Wakefield-Anderson

Thomas Wakefield and Pete Anderson are among Richmond’s most in-demand players, and we’re honored to have them visit the Lake Anna area.  Thomas is a master of many stringed instruments and styles, while Pete is known as the multi-genre go-to trombonist, long associated with the jazz education program at VCU.  Together, they deliver a rich repertoire for a delightful dining atmosphere.

Bruce Middle

From Fredericksburg, Bruce Middle brings his guitars and broad spectrum of styles to entertain several times this spring.  Although Bruce keeps the music volume in the background, it’s fascinating to pay attention to his technique and listen as he weaves his mellow, hypnotic soundscapes.  Bruce is among the most popular entertainers in Callie Opie’s Thursday Night Jazz series.

Stephanie Nakasian

Although she’s a world traveler and international performer, Stephanie spends much of her down time at her home near Lake Anna.  We’re fortunate that such a vibrant vocal talent shares her gift and brings her musical friends along for the 2024 Thursday Night Jazz series at Callie Opie’s Orchard Restaurant. You never know which big name performer will jam along with Stephanie.

Tim Holmes

Pianist Tim Holmes swings the Thursday Night Jazz series with his innate keyboard chops, whether he’s filling out all the parts or taking the lead with his backing rhythm section.  Tim is a Louisa County native who lives conveniently close by, so he’s often called to substitute when Callie Opie’s has a sudden need for his massive talent.  If you live near the lake, keep Tim in mind for your event entertainment.

James Bjork

From Richmond, James Bjork brings his shimmering saxophone setup, accompanied by rhythm and chord tracks that evoke the cool and smooth jazz sounds from the latter decades of the last century, presented with his own unique spin.  After finishing his demanding daytime work and when he’s not enjoying the outdoors, James and his musical rig are available to entertain at local events.

Ginny Carr

Callie Opie’s favorite Thursday night performer is international singer, composer, and recording artist Ginny Carr.  When she’s not playing her pianist/vocalist gigs, she can be seen as part of the cabaret review “Broads of Broadway” or as the leader of the four-part harmony ensemble, “Uptown Vocal Jazz Quartet.” It’s an honor to have this talented lady entertain us at Thursday Night Jazz.

May 2

Royce Campbell

Royce Campbell is a guitarist with a long and remarkable career of recording and performing with artists as diverse Marvin Gaye and Henry Mancini.  Mr. Campbell and his bassist make a return appearance at Callie Opie’s to help us welcome spring 2024 with appropriately romantic instrumentals, including some of his many original compositions.

Tony Mata

From Williamsburg, Tony Mata brings his guitar and bass duo to Callie Opie’s Thursday Night Jazz series for the second time. Tony performs in a variety of ensembles from Virginia to New York City. In addition to being a professional jazz guitarist, he works for Newport News Public Schools as the Instructional Specialist for Visual and Performing Arts.
